The Best Natural Medicine

I like to be happy, how about you? Is that a silly question?

It may be silly, but this question could make or break your physical health status. I’m not joking.

I noticed a long time ago that happy people tend to be more healthy. At first, I thought that a person who was healthy had to be happy, and  that was the reason for this connection, but lately I’ve become more and more convinced that happiness and a positive attitude are actually the key to good health.

What’s more, I’ve been experimenting with one single habit – related to happiness - that seems to have amazing healing power. This little habit, this little thing we all do from time to time but not often enough, has been proven to heal many life threatening conditions.

What’s this simple habit?

Laughter!

Laughter is not just relaxing and a lift to your spirit, it  also has several physical effects that are extremely healing. For example, laughter increases the oxygen your blood carries throughout your body. I use a simple laughter exercise in my migraine and headache program that often immediately sooths headaches. It prevents  oxygen deprivation in the brain. Laughter helps for fibromyalgia in the same way since it loads your body and bones with oxygen.

Laughter also relaxes your muscles. When you laugh, the muscles around your breathing passages relax, so  laughing before going to sleep can help improve snoring and sleep apnea. People suffering from TMJ should also try to laugh, since that relaxes the jaw muscles. Also, your body sends out natural pain relief hormones when you laugh.

Laughter also reliefs anxiety, so any condition that is caused partly or totally by anxiety can be completely healed  just by laughing.

A few years ago I had a couple come in for a session. The man suffered erectile dysfunction. His erectile dysfunction was probably mostly physical caused, so I gave them my exercises to follow and they began to make progress. Their sex life became better.

After three weeks, however, the problem was not completely gone as it should have been. I realized they were taking this too seriously. They had  a big sense of dread that  he would go soft .

I told them to loosen up, make some jokes, and laugh when this happens. She was very supportive and immediately got into it. The next time this happened. she made a comment (which wouldn’t be proper to repeat on a public blog) that made them both roar with laughter.

Guess what? They never had an erectile problem after that. The same approach has worked with many clients suffering premature ejaculation. Don’t take it so seriously. Joke and laugh.

When it comes to high blood pressure it’s  essential to relax. Laughter is the best relaxation medicine. It beats any medication I know.

A friend of mine is a doctor in Austria. He specializes in cancer treatment, and has twice the  success rate of any other doctor in the country. His “secret” is that he regularly gets a group of his clients in to talk about their cases, relaxed group therapy.  He begins each session by going around the room and having everyone tell his or her favorite joke.

So. laugh and the world will laugh with you, plus you’ll feel better, both mentally and physically.

Warm regards,

Christian Goodman

Hey I certainly agree with the laughter. As we get older we forget how to have fun and be relaxed. Thanks so much for the reminder.

Yes,I`ve always believed that laughter is the best medicine. It is sad to say though that most people have lost the ability to laugh, myself included. In this world gone crazy and so negative, what is there to laugh about?Like many others,I live alone with my loving dog of 11 years.
But that doesn`t change the fact that laughter is the best of medicine.

thank you for the advice-but laughter is something we just dont have a lot of at the mo.
i support a staff of 70 ladies, 98% of which have hubbies in iraq or afgan. this is the time for family, a hard time indeed for all of us. my own hubby is on a 14 month tour in africa. we all try to be there for each other-and we try hard to laugh-honest-it will be good for all of us.
