Happiness

Tuesday, June 26th, 2007

As I woke up from my nap, I saw a man standing in the isle a few rows in front of me. He was leaning over his buddy, who had oxygen mask over his face and vomit on his shirt. He was obviously very sick.

As I removed my i-pot earplugs, I saw the man gently touch his buddy’s shoulder and heard him ask: “do you have enough oxygen? Are you okay?” His eyes reflected sadness and concern. It’s not easy to see a person you care about being in such a pain.

At that moment, I heard the landing wheels come down. We were ready to land in Pittsburgh. The man didn’t move. There was obviously nothing he could do for his friend but he couldn’t pull himself away from the sick man.

Finally, the Flight Attendant told the concerned man he needed to sit down for a few minutes while the plane landed. The man sat down a couple of rows behind the sick man. His worried eyes didn’t leave his friend.

The Side Effects Of High Blood Pressure Medications

Thursday, June 21st, 2007

The only thing more dangerous than high blood pressure is using blood pressure medications to lower it. Here’s why…

It’s a well-known fact that hypertension medications cause serious side effects. Even the medical companies have to admit to that. But to defend themselves, they say: "No efficacy without side effects".

Some of the serious side effects include (but are not limited to) dizziness, headache, fatigue, depression, throbbing of the heart, lack of energy, lack of concentration, impotency, frigidity and more.

What’s worse, these medications give rise to the feeling of “false security”

Horses and Hypertension

Thursday, June 14th, 2007

I’m back in the fatherland; Iceland. Landed last Sunday.

So what was the first thing I did?

No, I didn’t visit family members or old human friends. I went down to the stable to see my adopted boys and girls. And then I took my best gray boy out for a ride.

Man, it’s good to be back with them.

The love from my horses has saved my life over and over again. In every way a man’s life can be saved. And I hope I’ll be riding when I’m 84, like some of the old folks around here do.

It was actually my love for horses that lead me to discover my hypertension exercises.

Hypothyroid And Overweight!

Monday, June 4th, 2007

Have you tried everything to loosen weight? Endless diets, working out 5 days a week. But was everything as ineffective as an umbrella in a tornado?

Has it become harder and harder to keep off these extra pounds as you get older?

If so, you may be one of millions of people who suffer from hypothyroid condition.

This condition is so sneaky, you’ll probably not notice anything till it’s full-blown. And then you need to take drastic actions, if you don’t want to be on medications for the rest of your life.

Your thyroid manages your body’s metabolism (conversion of oxygen and calories to energy). So if it’s not functioning properly, you may feel as strong as a lion one day and then as weak as a fly the next.

People are actually often misdiagnosed with fybromaylgia when in fact they have hypothyroid.

Hypothyroidism causes overweight in two ways…

  1. The metabolism is all out of balance, so the nutrition is not processed properly. Therefore big a part of the food is transformed into fat instead of producing energy to function.
  2. Your body goes into “a crisis stage” when it feels as if you’re running out of energy. When your body declares crisis, the first thing it does is gather fat. I’ve discussed similar crisis situations with sleep apnea patients.

A simple method to test your thyroid at home is to check your temperature in the morning.

Directions: Place a thermometer next to your bed. Before getting out of bed in the morning, lie still and place the thermometer under your armpit for fifteen minutes. If your temperature is below 97.5 F (36.4C), it may indicate thyroid problems.

A simple blood test can then quickly determine the state of your thyroid.

So if you’re diagnosed with hypothyroidism, what can you do?

There are many things that can cause hypothyroidism. Most common causes are stress and food allergy. So overall lifestyle changes are necessary, if you want to avoid traditional medications. (and the side effects that follow).

Eliminate stress:

Stress is a big factor, so eliminating that is the first thing you should do. Even if you decide to take traditional medications, your thyroid problem is a big indicator that there is too much stress in your life. So if you don’t change anything, something else will probably go soon.

My high blood pressure program is designed to lower your internal stress level (even if there is some stress outside ). So it’s also very helpful for hypothyroid. You can find it on the right-hand site of this page.

Food allergy:

There are several food types that affect the thyroid. Probably the most important things to avoid are soy products. Especially Tofu. Other things are cabbage, Brussels sprouts, mustard greens, broccoli, turnips, kale, spinach, peaches, and pears.

Overall cleansing is necessary if you’re diagnosed with thyroid problems. Seek help from a natural-health professional to guide you with your personal case.

Hypothyroidism is of course not always the cause of overweight. But it’s definitely worth checking, before taking any drastic actions, such as dangerous stomach operation. Plus, hypothyroid can lead to a several other dangerous conditions.

Christian Goodman
