This waxy substance is the result of excess quantities of LDL (the bad cholesterol). When there’s too much buildup of LDL cholesterol plaque, the artery walls become constricted and hardened. Constriction of the arteries will cause the blood to not flow at the normal rate. Slow flowing blood can cause a heart attack or stroke.
