Acne – What’s Truly to Blame?

Friday, October 16th, 2009

I don’t think one can go an entire day without hearing or seeing advertisements about clearing up acne. While these ads are typically aimed at teenagers, whose hormones are still establishing themselves, acne is for many, a lifetime issue.

What’s the culprit? If there were one catch all reason, we would have found a cure. While the technical cause is a bacterial infection in the pore, the bigger question is how did this occur?

There are many who claim that diet is the culprit. Some claim that when they started to eat a healthy diet, free from refined sugars and fried foods, their acne cleared up. There are, however, just as many who claim that their acne did not improve. Alternately, there are many who do not get acne and whose diets are definitely lacking in nutrition.

This is where one’s complete lifestyle comes into play. What is usually going on when someone alters his or her diet towards a healthy approach? Not many would say they just craved better foods. Most do this because a physical condition has forced them to try to get healthy.

This includes people who are overweight, who have high blood pressure, diabetes, etc. This is definitely evident in feedback from people who’ve tried my Weight Loss Breeze program. They started the program to lose weight but there were several who noticed their problem acne cleared up as they lost weight.

When we exercise, blood travels more efficiently to the different parts of our body, delivering oxygen, vital to maintaining healthy organs and tissues. When the organs like the liver and kidneys and lymphatic system are healthy, they are better able to free the body of toxins from food, medications and other environmental toxins.

Additionally, when we exercise, perspiration leaves the pores and with it, dirt, toxin buildup and excess sebum – all things which provide a nice breeding ground for acne.

Additionally, stress is released when we exercise. Stress is a known trigger for acne.

We also start drinking the required amount of water each day (eight glasses plus a glass for each pound you lose when you exercise). Most people are dehydrated. You can test this by pressing a tongue depressor on your tongue. If it sticks, you need to drink more water.

This is why in dealing with acne; one has to take a comprehensive approach. One’s overall health must be addressed – family history, hormone levels (e.g., menstruation, pregnancy, age) stress level, and diet are all important factors.

If you are looking for a natural program whose breathing and relaxation exercises are simple but effective, I highly encourage you to try my Weight Loss Breeze program!

Irritable Bowel Syndrome – A Stressful Subject

Monday, September 21st, 2009

I rely heavily on client feedback to know how well my programs help. I’ve also been fortunate enough to have many of you email me and tell me that other health conditions have improved as a result of using my program for a completely different health concern.

The most common feedback supporting this relates to my High Blood Pressure program. So many of you have written to me telling me that you used my program to treat your high blood pressure, which it did, but surprise – your Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) symptoms subsided as well!

How could this be? Let’s start with the cause. Well, there’s our catch. IBS is defined as a chronic gastrointestinal disorder with no known cause (such as cancer, etc.). Its symptoms include: abdominal pain/cramping, diarrhea, bloating, gassiness and sometimes constipation.

While it is not considered a life-threatening condition, there’s a reason it achieved the nickname, Spastic Colon. Twenty percent of the population suffers from this condition. Women tend to report symptoms more than men with symptoms being worse during menstrual cycles.

For most, it is an annoyance but for some, it can be debilitating, affecting one’s ability to maintain relationships or even a job.

While no known cause is attributed to IBS, your doctor can diagnose it with a detailed health history and by ruling out other infections or diseases.

Triggers for IBS include eating large meals, overly spicy meals, caffeine, and alcohol. The most commonly reported trigger, however, is stress.

This is where the link to my High Blood Pressure program comes in. Just like our heart and lungs, the colon is partly controlled by our autonomic nervous system. The colon has many nerves that connect up through the brain.

These nerves are responsible for normal contractions of the colon but when we are emotionally charged, overwhelmed or angry, these nerves become extra sensitive and normal contractions are exaggerated.

While there are medications available to treat IBS, I want to stress that these medications have very serious side effects including extreme constipation and blood flow restriction to the colon. The colon is an organ like any other and it cannot function without blood which delivers vital oxygen.

Other treatments for IBS include maintaining a healthy diet, getting enough sleep and consistent exercise and most importantly, reducing your stress level.

If stress seems to be the trigger of your IBS, I highly recommend my High Blood Pressure program. The natural breathing and relaxation exercises are designed to of course stabilize blood pressure but it they also help both the mind and body relax and enable you to get back to stress-free living!

Remedy For Clenched Jaws, Grinding Teeth & Snoring

Wednesday, November 7th, 2007

Our bodies work as a complex system. All functions of our body are a result of the teamwork of millions of cells interconnected and working in coordination with each other.

All the cells in an individual’s body have the same DNA structure. However, the DNA structure differs from one person to another. To perform one function, the muscles, nerves, bones or a limb will work in coordination with each other.

It is very obvious that for a backache, you should not concentrate solely on your back. Similarly, a headache points to many underlying problems in the body. And when your blood pressure is high, only treating this condition will be a very vague approach of treatment, thus hampering overall wellness.

I advise exercises for muscular disorders. But why neck and jaw exercises for grinding teeth, jaw clenching and snoring too? You should not just treat the symptom, but correlate these symptoms to some other underlying functional problems that should be treated to achieve significantly better health.
